Junior School Leadership and Adventure

TAS believes that developing the heart and mind together contributes to self-confidence and resilience, promoting academic achievement and character development.

This reflects the philosophy of “International Baccalaureate Organisation” and the “Round Square”, another association of schools from around the world that share a philosophy of personal growth through international understanding, student involvement in decision making, stewardship of the environment, adventure, leadership and service to others.

In Junior School, international understanding is fostered through an introduction to foreign languages from Kindergarten, and making new friends when students from Tezukayama Gakuin Elementary School, Japan come to visit every two years. As a member of the Round Square Association, we are fully involved in service and project work in conjunction with other schools from all over the world.

Our Leadership Programme and Student Representative Council promotes student agency whereby our students are given the opportunity to have a voice, make choices and take responsibility, all of which endears a sense of purpose and empathy..  Whether this is a trip to the fire station for Pre-Kindergarten, kayaking and wall-climbing during a week-long camp to Lake Keepit, our students and learn more about themselves, as well as the world in which they live.
