Service in Sydney and Katoomba Youth Christian Convention (KYCK)

With open ears, open minds and helping hands, students from The Armidale School get to provide friendship to the homeless during a Christian service visit to Sydney each May school holidays. Joined by the school’s chaplain Rev Richard Newton and several younger ‘Old Boys’, the group has for seven years partnered with two charities which offer food and comfort to those who sleep rough.

Boys spend their evenings with the Exodus Foundation, which operates food vans in the Woolloomooloo area. During the day they join Wesley Mission, learning about its work and purchasing and preparing food for its sandwich and coffee van.

They then move to the Blue Mountains to attend the KYCK Christian youth convention at Katoomba, where they join almost 2,500 other young people interested in sharing their faith. Guest speakers, music and prayer sessions provided plenty of reflection and inspiration.
