Day students in Years K-12 are eligible to use the fully subsidised school bus services that access the various schools in Armidale. These include services from and to Guyra, and Walcha.

Additionally, TAS operates a ‘late bus’ to service day boys living in the Uralla and Walcha districts. This service operates from Monday to Thursday (and on Activities Day Fridays) during the school term. The bus departs TAS at 5.15pm and picks up students from PLC (if required) and NEGS before dropping off students at McRae’s Corner, Uralla, at 5:45pm, Walcha Showground at 6.05pm and Walcha Caltex Service Station at 6.08pm. There is a $7.00 charge per student per journey which will be billed to the student’s account. Boarders are welcome to use this service.

Boarders’ Travel
NSW TrainLink Coach Services for Boarders
NSW TrainLink in conjunction with Transport NSW under the School Student Travel Scheme (SSTS), provide charter coach services for boarders to several key destinations. Reasonable luggage restrictions apply, e.g. no bikes, swags or large boxes. Parents/Carers are advised to make alternate arrangements for these items.
Students may travel free between home and school at the beginning and end of each term (excluding beginning Term 1 and end of Term 4) and also on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend in June, and Easter if separate from the school holiday period. Boarding Houses are closed for these long weekends.
NSW TrainLink chartered services go the following destinations:

TAS – Quirindi / Scone / Singleton / Gosford
TAS – Inverell/ Warialda / Moree / Walgett / Lightning Ridge
TAS – Tamworth /Gunnedah / Boggabri / Narrabri / Wee Waa / Cryon / Bourke
TAS – Mullaley /Coonabarabran / Gilgandra / Dubbo
TAS – Coffs Harbour / Kempsey / Port Macquarie
TAS – Glen Innes / Deepwater / Tenterfield (daily services to these destinations)
….. and all designated stops in between.
Application for a free boarders pass is via a bus/rail travel application supplied by the Admissions Office or available on request from Reception. Boarder passes are issued to students on the first day of outward travel – usually end of Term 1.
For students over 16 years, a Senior Secondary Concession Card is available from TAS Reception entitling the students to travel on most forms of public transport at a child’s fare. Available on request.
Boarders’ SSTS bookings and cancellations, (excluding air travel) should be made via TAS Reception on 02 6776 5800 or by email to Student Travel.
The Xplorer train service departs Armidale at 8.40am daily, arriving in Tamworth at 10.06 am, Sydney at 4.38pm.
Returning departing Sydney at 9.29 am, Tamworth 3.55 pm, arriving at Armidale at 5.35 pm.
This service is free to home destinations. Bookings on this public service must be arranged by TAS Reception.

NSW Trainlink coach to and from Tenterfield via New England Highway – daily service
The coach departs Armidale at 5.50pm every day, arriving in Glen Innes at 7.06 pm and Tenterfield at 8.21 pm.
Returning on Mondays departing Tenterfield at 5.40 am and Glen Innes at 7.00 am arriving at Armidale at 8.19 am.
This service is free to home destinations. Bookings on this public service must be arranged by the School Travel Office.

New England Coaches – Armidale to Coffs harbour
This company offers services to and from destinations on the coast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is not a free service and for use in urgent situations only. For timetable information and to book Click Here
Greyhound Services to Brisbane and Sydney
Brisbane service departs from the Armidale Tourist Information Centre daily at 3.20 am and arrives in Brisbane at approximately 10.00am. This is not a free service.
Sydney service departs from the Armidale Tourist Information Centre daily at 3.50pm arriving in Sydney at 12.05am. This is not a free service. e.g. fare Armidale to Tamworth is $31 for a student over 16 years of age.
Conditions of students accessing public transport for weekend leave
All exeats are to be approved by the relevant Head of House and Sportsmaster and or Sport Coach prior to travel booking being confirmed and ticket being emailed to parent/carer and student.
